Up for offer is this antique mechanical key walking composition doll by Louis Wolf. Both the head and arms are made of composition material. This doll is original. There is also an originalgreen label on theinside of shoe that indicatedsthe patent date of September 24, 1924. The doll is in very good condition for its age. There have been no repairs. Normal cracking and grazing, but nothing all the way through. All fingers are present. The paint on his face is good. A little paint loss on one side of onecheek and top theof head. This doll displays beautifully. It stands about 11 1/2 inches tall. All mechanicalparts seem to be present in his feet and the rollers roll very good. The clothes are a white pull over shirt, and light pinkish bibs that button. I do believe the clothes are original, as there is a slot for the key on the right place on the garment. A little tear around the seam of the collar on shirt. Hard to see unless looking for it. No paint has been touched up, its all original. When you wind it up and hold at waist, the legs take off in a fast motion and moveback and forth.. It does not drag when his feet are off the floor. The mechanical mechanism seems to be working fine. When you place him on the floor he doesn\'t move . It is like he doesn\'t have enough energy to go forward. It could be my floor, but the rollers look and move fine. It could be the rollers need a good cleaning or oiled. But again, the wind up mechanism works and winds down normally at a normal pace. All roller parts are present and work independently. It is too valuable for myselfto investigate why he is slow to move on the floor. This doll is a wonderful collectors item. The doll is marked on the back of his head L & W Co. The string that holds his head in place is a little aged. Most of his flaws are from normal aging. Doll has a very sweet face. No holes in the composition, just normal aging.
