Antique M1904 M1908 US Military Cavalry Saddle Pad Cloth *For A McClellan Saddle:

This is an old authentic U.S. Military / Cavalry saddle pad or saddle cloth. I amguessing thatit is either the model 1904 or perhaps the model 1908. Maybe it is older, I don\'t know.

The saddlepad/cloth is made of two layers of some type of a canvas type of material. The edges are all trimmed in a 1/2\" to 5/8\" wide leather edging -- that is very cracked and worn looking. On the saddle\'s side of the pad is a strip of leather that goes up the middle of the pad and this likewise is very cracked (pictures #11 & #12).Also in the center of the pad some of the stitching for this leather strip is coming undone as shown in the 12th picture.

Attached to the pad is a small round brass tag and on it is written FK 3 (5th picture). I do not see any other identifying markings on the pad.

The canvas type of material is dirty -- quite stained and soiled. But I do not see any holes or tears in the canvas.

This would be a nice addition to anyone\'scollection or display of a WW1 or M1904McClellan saddle.
