NOTE: This is a gorgeous Masonic piece! Please read our description below. This is a wonderful antique Masonic pin. We have never seen another like it. It is a miniature work of art! The pin is gold filled with black enamel decoration for contrast. The inside is a diorama or dimensional scene of several Masonic symbols. At the top is the All Seeing Eye and there is a Compass and Mitre. In the middle is what might have been a Star. The rays have fallen off and just to the left and above and a few at the bottom right at the Compass. They were attached with wax or mucilage that has broken down with time. There are a few other symbolic items in the scene. A jeweler of watch maker should be able to restore this piece. We feel almost certain that some of the pieces inside the diorama are gold, 14 or 18K because of the rich color and the fact that they are not tarnished. We are not absolutely certain. It does make sense that such an ornate and detailed piece would have gold ornamentation. In our photos, the symbols and glass look clean and sharp. If you use a small lamp and a loupe, you see what looks like a light haze in some areas. The pink and black blocks at the bottom floor are not as pink and sharp as seen in our photos. The symbols and scene is not crystal clear as in our photos above. It is really quite nice with fine detail. There appears to be a little discoloration around the eye. If you turn the glass to catch glare, you see a very small amount of very light wear on its surface, but no chips. The pin is very sharp and has the old style partial coil catch. The pin is about 1 1/4 inches tall by just under 1 inch wide. We believe it to be from the late 1800s or so. What an amazing and intricate work of Masonic art! !
