Antique Meiji Period Japanese Ginbari Cloisonne Vase
This beautiful piece is done in the Ginbari foil technique with enamelsin a manner similar to cloisonne. Itprobably dates from the Meiji period (1868-1912) when the art of Japanesecloisonné enamels reached its highest point. Technological improvements enabledartists to create wonderful examples, including one of the most desirabletechniques called \"ginbari\" (silver foil foundation) shippo as yousee it here.
The colors are gorgeous. Lovely floral design.
The vase measures 4\" tall. 2 inchesat the widest point with a 1 inch base.
Condition: Overall good vintage conditionwith the exception of some hairlines lines in the glaze (see photos).
