Antique Mid 19th Century Carved Wood Picture Frame with Original Mirror- This dates to right around 1840 - 1860. Wood is quite heavy
Measures 33-5/8\" tall x 20-5/8\" wide. All the design is hand carved wood. There is a minimal gesso coat over the wood, then the gilt is applied on the outside. This has not been repainted or touched up. It weighs 13 pounds, 5 ounces.
The wood pieces are remarkable and all appear to be intact. There is a small wood chip on the bottom edge of the frame itself about 3/4\" which could be filled easily.Frame chip is not on the carved section.There is an ever-so-slight coating of gesso over the wood and it is experiencing some chipping however, considering its age, it is on the minimal side. The gilt could be touched up or left as is. The mirror has some spotty mirror reflective loss but nothing major. It may have possibly had the back of the mirror re-sprayed at some point.
