History
This is a painting of \"Scheherazade the Story Teller\". The story goes as follows.Persian King Shahrvar marries a new virgin everyday and the very next day beheads them. He does this because of anger told towards his first wife who was unfaithful to him. He has killed over a 1,000 women.Scheherazadeagainst his father\'s wishes is the 1001 wife to visit the king. She starts telling a story to the king and at Dawn when she has to meet her faith she tells him there is not enough time to finish. The King spares her life and asks her to continue, she starts a new story and the same thing happens the next night. After a 1000 days , she says she has no more stories to tell. The King in these thousand nights has fallen in love and has 3 children withScheherazade. He has also become wiser and a kinder man. The king makesScheherazade his queen and they live the rest of their life together.
Some may know of the collection of stories told by Scheherazade as \"One Thousand and One Nights\" or in Western Culture, we often refer to it as \"Arabic Nights\" . Many classical stories included are \"Aladdin\'s Wonderful Lamp\", \"Ali baba and the Forty Thieves\", and many others.
