Description of item for sale:
Thispainting by Henry Schouten sold at Horta sale (Brussels, Belgium) in June of 2013 for $2082 ($1,735 hammer price + 20% buyer's premium). We acquired it through an estate sale and offerit here. Schouten (1857-1927) studied at the Academy of Brussels from 1876 to 1881. He specialized in paintings of cattle, poultry and other animals. This large painting is aclassic example:a portrait of two setters professionally executed with exceptional colors. Both the painting and antique gilt frameare in very good antique condition with no damage of any significance. In addition the painting is clean and ready for display without any restoration or cleaning needed. Note that the frame is newer than the painting and not original to the painting. Dimensions: 40" tall, 32" wide and 2" thick in its frame. Thecanvas size is31.5" tall and 24" wide.
