Up for sale is a gorgeous antique Orthodox Russian icon, probably from the 1800s, featuring the Madonna or Virgin and Jesus. It is oil paint on what feels like wood board, a bronze covering and a salmon pink velvet covering in the back. It appears to have never been opened and has never had a loop for hanging. I would say it is in excellent condition with some crazing but no loss to the paint and general wear from age and handling. There are very few thin spots to the velvet and no holes. This has been in my family for over a decade and was gift from an Estonian friend of the family.
