An early courthouse steps quilt with a rich assortment of prints.

c 1860s

Some pre civil war fabrics with browns, madders, over dye green and more.

Tiny center squares measure only 1 1/4 inch.

Designed in a sunshine shadow pattern which is achieved by using light and dark fabrics. Blocks alternate in direction giving the illusion of larger and a tad smaller diamonds. A balanced work of art!

Measures a generous 84 x 82 inches

Hand quilted 7-8 stitches per inch.

Edgesare turned and hand sewn. Thin batting. Hand pieced.

Crisp, never used or washed.

Has age spotting tanning in places. See photos.
