Great Antique pieced quilt in beautiful condition. Clean, strong, and ready for gentle use, to display, or to add to your collection. I would date the quilt to the 19th century, but I am NOT an expert. 1880 maybe earlier?? The quilt shows a little fading. There are a few tiny stains scattered around. I\'ve tried to show them in the photos. If you have a hard time seeing them in the photos, know that you will have a hard time seeing them in person as well. They only show in the very best light. There is also one spot near the edge (in the white border) where the fabric has worn through to the binding. It is small and shown in the last photo. There are also a few scattered small stains on the back. The worst of these is shown in second to last photo. Some wonderful old fabrics this quilt. Fabrics and stitching are all strong. The piecing is done by hand. The quilting by hand at about 10 stitches per inch, measuring on the top side only. There are beautiful scalloped circles in all the solid setting blocks. These are filled in and the pieced basket blocks covered in a tiny grid, about 5/8 inch. The border has double diagonal parallel lines 1/8\" and 1/2\" apart. The quilt is 75\" by 75\" and in a box weighs 3-4 lbs. The batting is light weight. The backing is pieced using a solid cream that matches the cream on the front. The narrow binding is applied by machine (I think) and sewn down by hand. Frankly, I\'m having a hard time deciding if it is hand or machine sewn...What makes this quilt special is the exquisite workmanship and fabulous condition.
