Antique Primitive Wood Snow Sled with Iron Runners Handmade German Style
Description

This is an antique wooden snow sled that was handmade in the mid-1800s to early 1900s. It has iron strap runners and supports. The main structural frame is attached to the top and bottom with hand cut mortise and tenon joints. This has not been refinished at all and has hardware that all appears original. There are remnants of old red paint on the inside of the metal braces (underneath). This is similar to the Swiss Davos style but was most likely made here in PA. The metal blades have signs of being hand wrought and have tips at the ends as they curl up the front of the bentwood runners.It is a super decorator item, especially during the winter holidays. This could also be easily converted to a small coffee table or have a couple of shelves placed across the frame (freestanding). It is in very good vintage condition as shown and very sturdy. This was a old barn find years ago! We refer to this as a child size but this style was also used to pull heavy items on top of it. It is about 32-1/4\" long x 12-1/2\" wide x 9-1/4\" high.
