Up for sale is an Early Antique Vintage Gas Art Nouveau Victorian Newel Post / Saloon Bar Cigar Store Lighter, Winged Cherub/Angel Cupid GAS Lamp Light. This lamp isreallyrare in that it is still gas, it has NOT been converted. It\'s UNTESTED.Just the parts as shownare included (not sure what else would be needed to test it, I don\'t know if it works - it was an estate sale find). These type of lamps used to sit on newel posts or sometimes on a bar for someone to light a cigar / cigarette. The gas regulator/part is still attached to the base.
The lamp is marked \"Welsbach\" in the center. It appears to be mixed metals (magnet does not stick to most parts).The metal shows overlay or possible paint loss spots, tarnish, discoloration& general wear and age. The backside of the cherub has a line on it, but I think it\'s just a manufacturer/mold mark. The tube or chimneyat the top (which might be mica ? has some rips/tears, but ispresent, which is unusual). The lamp measures approximately 23 1/4\" tall; the base is 6 1/2\" x 6 1/2\". It has a beautiful figural statuesque sort ofappearance.
