Antique ROYAL CROWN DERBY PROCELAIN DEMITASSE

CUP & SAUCER

IN THE IMARI PATTERN \"3973\"

This sale is for a Royal Crown Derby Demitasse Cup
and Saucer in the beautiful Imari pattern #3973, dating
from 1892.

The elegant design featuresstunning deep cobalt
blue, rust red, and gold swirls, with a deep cobalt blue
and gold border,on asparkling white background.

Dimensions. The cup is about 2 1/2\" high and 2 1/2\" in diameter
(3 1/4\" including the handle) . The saucer is 5\" in
diameter.

Marks: The cup and saucer are both marked on the bottom
\"Royal Crown Derby\" over the crown, \"England\" on the side
and the pattern number \"3973.\"

One cup is round as pictured and two cups have a somewhat
hexagonal shape. I collect this pattern and all the
cups I have seen are round, not this very attractive
hexaganol design. Very rare.

Condition. Excellent condition with no chips,
cracks, crazing or stains. No or minimal wear to the gold or
paint pattern. Thiscup and saucer appear
never or only seldom used!

condition betterthan my words.

This Imari pattern is seldom available, so when I
had the opportunity years ago, I bought this cup and
saucer as part of a set of six. This sale is for
one cup and saucer, but the three still are available.
