I have so enjoyed this wonderful doll! She is sure to take center stage in any antique cloth doll collection (she did mine)! She is American and is original from bottom to top! She is 16\" tall and was made in 1868. She comes with a sad story. There are 2 notes that will accompany her (see last photo). They are sealed in plastic to protect them (as they have been since I purchased the doll). The large pink note reads, \"Rag Doll Belonged to Mary H. Clark 1868\". The smaller note reads, \"Mary\'s Doll-Put away by Mother after the baby died. Aug 19, 1869-\". So sad that the little girl passed so young. What incredible, painstaking work her mother put into this doll. The details of the costume and the intricate, hand sewn craftsmanship are truly remarkable. The doll is firmly stuffed with, what feels like, cotton batting and her head and torso are all one piece. I have never undressed the doll, but I feel no rips or tears. There is a small hole in the front neck area of the doll. She has wooden limbs and human hair! There is a chip to the right hand and, as you can see, the feet are missing. She has hand painted grey stockings and dark blue boots with 2 rows of painted buttons. There is some wear to the paint on the hands and lower legs. She is wearing a wonderful, cotton striped 2 piece frock with beautiful deep blue silk trim and rosettes. There is some loss to the silk trim and the dress does have some wear and a couple of holes in the overskirt. Her brown silk bonnet has lovely pale green silk ribbon trim. It is attached to her head on either side (thank goodness or it surely would be lost by now). The bonnet has some splitting, but is still sound. Her brown human hair is thinning, but that is covered by the bonnet. She has a hand painted face. As you can see, there is some age staining to the cloth, as would be expected in a doll this old. Under her clothing she is wearing a petticoat, full length chemise, and pantaloons. She can sit easily. Not one detail was overlooked in the making of this doll by the mother for her precious daughter. There are no foul or strong musty odors. I have taken many more photos if you would like to see them. Shipping
Items are usually shipped within 1 business day, but sometimes if I have a large sale it may take me 2 business days. All items will have the tracking number automatically uploaded when I print the shipping label. I charge actual shipping. If the amount charged on your invoice turns out to be more than the actual cost, I will reimburse any overage. I always pay to insure any items that sell for over $50.00. I do not charge my customers for insurance. On rare occasions, I will charge a small handling fee. This is usually done when an item is very large and requires a large, expensive box and lots of packing material. Any item selling for $250.00 USD or more will be sent with signature confirmation, no exceptions (due to \'s new policy for sellers). I do combine shipping. If you win 2 or more items, please wait to pay until I send you a combined shipping invoice. This will save you money. I cannot combine shipping for an item once it has been paid for. Sometimes the shipping calculator can be incorrect. If the amount looks too large (or small) please contact me for the correct shipping amount. I only charge exact shipping.
