Sassanian Dynasty 224–651 AD. Agate backgammon set - 30 pcs - full set (15 white + 15 brown). 22-27 mm diameter. Good condition with some wear an small chips to use and age. Guaranteed to be genuine Sassanian and antique.

Purchased in 90\'s from Aaron Gallery in London.

Our family has been in ancient art business for quarter of century. From time to time we have seen some of these; however, I have not had a full set like this. Always there were just a few.The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has some stone and glass ones which they date them to early Islamic, a couple of centuries younger. I, however, think of them as being pre Islamic as we noticed the game pieces came with other Sassanian antiquities. With higher demand for Islamic art,
I would not mind that they are called Islamic. This set is complete and superior. Here is the link to the Met Museum\'s collection:
