This is an Antique Vintage SILK EMPIRE WAIST DRESS in a light shiny pale greenish grey color. It is gathered at the front neck, front waist and cuffs with a drawstring made out of brownish cotton twill ribbon. Puff sleeves that have pleats at the top, the under part of the sleeve has a triangular gusset. The waist drawstring is 1 3/4\" wide and tightens under the bust. The upper back bodice is open with no buttons or other closure. Long skirt has a slight A-line shape. Fabric is fairly heavy silk with translucent stripe or plaid pattern. Very beautiful, simple design. Machine and hand stitched. The fabric is in excellent shape, still solid but does have age related discolorations. As often seen on vintage clothing, inside seams are reinforced or stitched to avoid fraying.
