A beautiful silver butter knife made by William Devenport, Birmingham in 1900. Fully hallmarked and with a nicely decorated handle and engraving on the blade, which unusually is gently curved to enable butter to be scooped and it also has a pointed end to pick up the butter. The handle rattles and we are unsure if this is deliberate from the maker, or if a piece of silver within the handle has become misplaced. There is no visible damage to this item with wearcommensuratewith age.
