This small antique silver buta or boteh shape container is likely a personal Jewish besamim pendant or fob. It appears to be Afghan, Persian, or Ottoman in origin.
There is no interior piece but there is a tiny ledge inside the base that could have been held an insert in place.
Measurements: 1” high excluding the loose jump ring x 1/2” wide x 11/16” deep across the clasp and hinge (2.5cm x 1.3cm x 1.7cm)
The item is unmarked but it has been tested and it is silver. My test is not delicate enough to tell what grade of silver. Perhaps, it is sterling but if the item is continental, the silver is likely 900 or 800.
Very good condition. It has only been lightly polished. As stated, there is no interior piece.
