It is my pleasure to present for sale this wonderful, Swiss, antique cylinder music box. This marvellous instrument was made by Picard-Lion circa 1900 and plays 8 airs with 3 bell accompaniment as detailed on the original tunecard. The box weighs 8.2kg before wrapping. It measures 16.75\" (42cm) wide, 8\" (20cm) high and 10\" (26cm) deep. The cylinder is 6\" (15.5cm) long. The comb is also 6\" (15.5cm) long and with 43 teeth or notes. The comb has no damage to the teeth nor tips and the cylinder is in very good too.

The mechanism winds very smoothly via the crank on the left side and on the right side there are two levers. The first lever changes/repeats the current air and the second stops/starts the mechanism between airs. The levers both function correctly. The mechanism is stamped with serial number 7705 with this number repeated variously across the instrumen. The spring retains original Geneva stop to prevent overwinding. Occasionally a flick of the fly is required to start the mechanism into action but then it will play flawlessly \'til wound down.

The case has a walnut veneered lid with central cartouche of flowers and butterflies as pictured. The interior retains original fittings though i do not have the key for the lid\'s lock. This music box is in great condition. Very clean and there is no crack on the glass nor fading of the center lyric picture.

The airs are reproduced with dexterous and accomplished musicality. There are arpegios, chords and scales weaving delicious harmonies around the distinctive melodies. There is minimal distortion and the tone is very good with the airs played brightly and audibly. The bells add a jolly touch to what is a very happy sounding mysic box.
