This is an early 1880sTriple Irish Chain hand pieced using Turkey redfor the pieces and the sawtooth frame, and bright white cotton for the background. We think that the maker used various types of red, and perhaps even pieces that were faded, as the fadingin this quilt is not consistent (see photos). It measures 90\" x 80\", has a very thin cotton batting with a few seed fragments, a bright red hand applied binding (worn), and a bright whiteback. It\'s hand quiltedwith double angle quilting over the pieced blocks, teacup quilting on the background, and single angle quilting over the frame and border @ 8 to 9 stitches per inch. Freshly hand laundered,we found a couple tinysplits in the white fabric near the border (see photo), andsome lightage spotson the background. Take a look at our other clean quilts in our store.
