An amazing Islamic Persian 17-19th Century Bust

I purchased this item recently from aKabul antique merchant. I could not pass up the details and truecharacter of this bronze artifact. Even the crack in his beard could notadd more character and age to this pieceunearthedin Bamyan or \"Bamian\" Province of central Afghanistan.

I was told that this decorativebronze bust mostlikelyonce adorned the top ofanelegantstafforwalking stick.

Theitems I am listed range in age from 100+ to 1000s ofyears old, on back to Bactria with most being unearthed from remote regions ofAfghanistan.

* I also have availability to ship via U.S. mail since I amworking here with the military!

The origin of this pieceencompasses the modern nations of Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran,Iran and Afghanistan, but could have come fraom as far asancientGreeceor Rome as they were once merchant tradersbetweendistant lands. Regardless of its mysterious origin, thisistrulya wonderful and distinctive culturalartifact.

Patterns in Islamic artifactsnormally take one of three different forms: vegetal, or curving vines, oftencalled arabesques; calligraphic verses, usually from the Quran; and geometricshapes. Instead of representing something specific, as a symbol would inWestern art, patterns in Islamic architecture are meant to represent abstractconcepts related to Islam and encourage people to think about the impermanenceof the physical world and the unity and nature of God.
