ANTIQUE VICTORIAN Christmas TREE FAIRY LIGHT GLASS CANDLE HOLDER - QUILTED WHITE MILK GLASS
A beautiful quilted milk glass Christmas tree fairy light glass candle holder. Late 19th century, early 20th century, these beautiful mold blown \"fairy\" light candle holders held real candles or wick and oil and were hung on Christmas trees in peoples homes. The \"quilted\" diamond pattern was quite popular and displayed a lovely, soft glow to the Christmas tree and probably was somewhat more safe than lighted tapers which were also a type of illumination for these early Christmas trees. You might think this heavy milk glass would be completely opaque, but with a tiny light inside, this fairy light gives off a warm soft pale white glow.
This pretty milk glass candle holder measures about 3-3/4\" by about 2-1/2\" at the widest point, and is in excellent condition, as shown. This candle light shows an extra pronounced lip to allow for the thin wire to be fastened and tied to allow it to remain level as it hangs on the tree branches or other areas in the house. This is not a reproduction.
