Antique Victorian SKM & Co, Gold Filled Photo Locket /Pendant, No Monogram:

A beautiful Gold Filled Locket from the Victorian era and signed by the maker. There is a lovely spring motif on the front of a basket encrusted with 11 unknown stones, flowers within the basket and a ribbon adorning the basket handle. It evokes the notion of Spring and the Easter holiday. The locket opens from the right side, hinge is on the left. The inside is marked with the letters S.K.M. Co. inside a shield.

According to the Dorothy Rainwater\'s, American Jewelry Manufacturers book on page 170, it states the following: S.K. Merrill & Company, Providence, Rhode Island. Established by Sylvester K. Merrill in 1871. He was born in Phenix, Rhode Island September 9, 1840. Robert E. Budlong, born Providence in 1864, became a member of the firm in 1885. Last listing found was 1915.

The locket has a chain and clasps marked \"gold top\", which may not be original to the piece. The chain needs repair. Looks great!

Measures: approx 1 1/4\" in diameter and stands 1/4\" at the highest point when closed. It has a place for two photos within.

This locket is in excellent condition considering it is 100 years old with minimal wear and tear on the outside. I did not attempt to clean these antiques, so this may require a cleaning or polishing.
