This is a beautiful locket (dated to 1887) with a striking amount of unique details. It’s quite possible that the locket is original to the chain but it might be a marriage that was made at some point. The bookchain links are chunky and dimensional but also smooth with a nice feel when worn. There is one link that has a dent to its shape which can be seen in a photo and the rest of the links are full and intact. The locket has a puzzle pattern with monogram initials that are executed in a twig/branch design - got that? The design is slightly raised from the base of the locket typifies the love of Victorians had for mysterious secrets. The locket opens smoothly to reveal two original photo frames and one glass panel that doesn’t have any chipping or cracks. The locket is about 1/2”thick at its thickest point and has a full shape with just a couple of the tiniest surface dings at the back. The locket has a lovely and bright patina that shows off the detail and there are no signs of solder or repair. Overall this is a well made and uniquely designed, sterling silver puzzle locket necklace, that was made in England in 1887, that is in Excellent condition.
