The History

This beautiful piece comes from the Art Deco Era! The Art Deco Era is famous for being the \"Gatsby\" or \"Roaring Twenties\" Era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period.

During the Art Deco Period jewelers often made jewelry upon custom order, this would often take weeks to months to completely craft by hand.

Produced by major fashion-jewelry firms like the Napier Company in New York, Egyptian revival jewelry was typically made from flashy golden forms featuring carved hieroglyphics, pharaoh’s heads, sphinxes, and even mummies.

Precious coral is harvested almost exclusively in the Mediterranean off the coasts of Italy, France, Spain, Algeria, and Tunisia. Salmon Coral has widely been valued as the rarest and most beautiful of all Coral types. During the Victorian Period only the richest of the rich could afford to have this form of coral harvested and imported into Europe and North America.

The necklace is hallmarked with Egyptian Assay marks near the clasp.

The Piece

The necklace includes 55 hand carved and polished Salmon Coral tubular shaped beads. The beads would have been hand strung on the silk string on the necklace. The beads feature that highly prized cant find anymore Salmon Hue throughout.

The necklace feature classic handmade Art Deco craftsmanship including being made in Egypt for the tourist market during the Art Deco period. It includes traditional tassel pendants on the bottom as well as intricate chain link throughout.

The necklace has a wearable length of 17.5\". The The tassels dangle another 1\" off the bottom of the necklace. The necklace is meant to be worn as a choker to a little lower on the necklace depending on your neck size. The necklace includes a period spring clasp as well.
