The History

This beautiful pair of earrings comes from the Art Deco Era! The Art DecoEra is famous for being the \"Gatsby\" or\"RoaringTwenties\" Era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designsin jewelry came out of this period.

During the Art Deco Period jewelers often made jewelry upon customorder, this would often take weeks to months to completely craft by hand.

Chinese Export jewelrybecame popular during the lateVictorian Period and lasted until the 1960\'s. In a lot of ways Chinese Exportjewelry fashioned what we know of jewelry today. During these period\'s ChineseCraftsmen including Jewelers, Stone cutters were considered by far the best inthe world.

The rich and wealthy would have a piece custom ordered throughtheir local jeweler whom was usually gifted at drawing a design to send off tocontacts in China to craft and send back. As you can imagine, this was notcheap, that being said, these pieces are very rare and few have survived untiltoday.

Chinese Stonecutters were considered some of the finest artisans in the world during the Vintage Era. They would carve western themes as well as the more rare traditional Eastern themes into their many pieces.

Etruscan Revival Jewelry was known for the clean and elegant simplicity of ancient Greek and Roman design and detailed by granulation and scrolled wire work. Master Italian goldsmiths, such as Castellani, were famous for their work in this style. Other Etruscan Revival pieces, include cameos of carved lava, hardstone or shell, in yellow gold, which were detailed with scenes from classic mythology or jewelry created in micro-mosaic and pietra dura. Gods and goddesses, nymphs and warriors, were all prevalent as well as motifs consisting of grapes, vines, swags and garlands.

The earrings are stamped \"Silver\" behind the clip ons on both earrings.

The Piece

The earrings each include 4 hand cabochon cut and polished red Coral stones and 3 hand cabochon cut and polished Turquoise stones. Each stone is round cut, however because the stones were hand cut, they range slightly in shape, size and height. The three accent coral stones around the outside are a beautiful pink-red color with very faint white striations in some of the stones.The main Coral stone in the center of each earring is a deeper red.The Turquoise stones in each are a deep blue-green color with a stunning black spiderweb matrices throughout. All the stones in the earrings are set in a saw-tooth bezel setting for added detail.

The earrings are beautifully hand crafted out of Sterling Silver. A very talented silver smith would have usedEtruscaninspiredtechniques to hand hammer every ornate detail you see within the domed motif, from the granulated bead accents to the endless rope twist borders around the bezels.

The earrings have a diameter of just over 5/8\". The Coral and Turquoise stones are approximately 3-5 mm in diameter (the stones range in size). The design includes clip-on style backings for pierced and non-pierced ears.
