This is a very cool looking antique vintage French primitive rustic bucket with an iron handle.

I\'m not at all sure how old it is, perhaps earlier 20th century. But it has great age to it.

It measures 10 1/8 inches tall (25.7 cm) without the handle and 11 1/4 inches tall (28.6 cm) with the handle. The top measures 8 3/4 inches wide at the opening and 10 inches wide at the handle (22.2 cm, 25.4 cm). The base measures 7 inches wide (17.8 cm).

I don\'t know what this was used for. Perhaps it was an ice bucket, a water pail or possibly for grain?

It was made with a compressed wood pulp-like substance. It\'s a fairly strong material. I believe it was then painted in a decorative grain style with decorative straps going around.

The handle is made of iron.

It is marked on the bottom Made in France. There are some other marks on the bottom, probably representing the company that manufactured it.

As you can see in the photos, there is quite a bit of wear to the finish, including small gouges, scratches and scuff marks.

Even given its damage, it\'s a very cool looking piece.

It weighs 2 pounds 1 1/2 ounces (948 g).
