ANTIQUE THE SCHOOL OF ATHENS HAND-COLORED PHOTOGRAPH WITH ORIGINAL FRAME FROM 1920\'S-30\'SHere\'s a RARE antique hand-colored matted/framed photograph entitled “The School of Athens” by Raphael. It was probably purchased at a gift shop in or around the Vatican about 80-90 years ago. The lower-left corner of the photograph has a copyright logo. The frame measures 15” x 12” and the photograph measures 10” x 7” (mat opening). The GILT FRAME is quite beautiful with the muted red and green colors echoing the hand-coloring in the photograph. The mat/backing board were removed at one time since there are newer staples (from a staple gun) and the backing paper was not replaced. The photograph is in EXCELLENT CONDITION and without damage. The matting has even toning except for the top area which has a slightly lighter value. The back has a hanging wire for an easy wall installation. The School of Athens has particular interest to ARTISTS and ARCHITECTS since it involved the first use of LINEAR PERSPECTIVE in a painting!The shipping cost anywhere in the U.S. includes packing materials, handling, online tracking and insurance.
