The History

Thisbeautiful piece was made during the Victorian Period! The Victorian Period isfamous for its very rare & elegant hard to find designs! Queen Victoria wasthe ruling monarch for this time period (1837-1901) hence the name (Victorian).

TheGrand Tour was the standard European vacation of the Georgian and Victorianeras. The opportunity it gave for studying culture, architecture and art madeit a tradition, especially for the upper classes. And what better souvenir ofthis long trip than pieces of native souvenir jewelry such as Italian cameos,mosaic and pietra dura pieces. Pieces often also had historical inspirationsfrom the remnants of Pompeii to the pyramids of Egypt, cultural learning was afocal point of the grand tour, the process of remembrance spilled over intojewelry souvenirs.

EtruscanRevival Jewelry was known for the clean and elegant simplicity of ancient Greekand Roman design and detailed by granulation and scrolled wire work. MasterItalian goldsmiths, such as Castellani, were famous for their work in thisstyle. Other Etruscan Revival pieces, include cameos of carved lava, hardstoneor shell, in yellow gold, which were detailed with scenes from classicmythology or jewelry created in micro-mosaic and pietra dura. Gods andgoddesses, nymphs and warriors, were all prevalent as well as motifs consistingof grapes, vines, swags and garlands.

The bracelet appears to be of Austro-Hungarian Origin, the old time hammer marks are small and hard to make out. The marks include a makers mark with initials last one ending in \"Z\". A double sword cartouche assay mark or Crown and goblet. A cartouche with the number 9 or 9 as well. As well as 833 for the purity of silver.

The Piece

The bracelet features classic handmade Victorian designs including a beautiful Etruscanthemed design with granulated bead accents throughout the tennis bracelet. The Gold Wash on the bracelet has worn off in area\'s, and it is not as gold as it appears in the pictures.

The intricacy of the bracelet is just simply amazing and would have taken a lot of time to craft completely by hand.

The bracelet measures 7.25\" by 1 and 1/4\" wide and also includes a secure push clasp with safety clip.
