Antique bronze clad Peter Pan mushroom bookends by Marion Bronze, original paint:

In my estimation, one of the most charming sets of bookends ever produced. In fact, I have these in my official collection.
Peter Pan seated on mushrooms, in a pose of happy, carefree confidence that absolutely captures the essence of the character. If you never have read the original work by J.M. Barrie, give yourself a treat and do so - much more clever and sophisticated than Disney ever told us. This piece was designed by artist Olive Kooken in the 1920s. Check out \"Kooken lamps\" on to see some other lovely things she created.
Bronze-clad by Marion Bronze, the MB initials can be glimpsed on the bottom right of the back of the base. Circa 1960.
Condition is excellent with one flaw to point out: under the right foot on one piece, a small chip out of the cladding, and 2 hairline cracks extending down about 1 inch - an unobtrusive location, almost invisible, I didn\'t see it until I was cleaning with a Q-tip. I tried to get a picture of it but even then it is hard to see.
Otherwise, the pieces have nothing damaged, dented, mashed in or glued back on. Paint is original and other than wear spots on the mushrooms, is almost entirely intact.
These stand 7 1/2 inches tall; 4 inches wide; 3 1/2 inches deep. And fairly heavy at almost 2 1/2 pounds EACH PIECE.
