A simply stunning vesta case circa 1900, this is the first genuine New Zealand piece we have had the pleasure of owning, particularly with natural green stone panels with Koru carving.

Maori for loop, Koru represents an unfurling silver fern frond to symbolize creation, the perpetual movement of life and state of harmony - a beautiful pattern encased with the brilliance of the deep green stone, handing nature the respect it deserves.

Encased in sterling silver complete with hanging loop, in the early 1900\'s this case was made to be used as a match safe but beauty now exceeds purpose, it seems far too breathtaking for matches now.

In very good to excellent condition, the stone bears no chips or cracks and the lid opens and closes firmly. This has an outstanding patina.
