Absolutely gorgeous all splint egg basket. We purchased this mid Atlantic egg basket in 1975 in Winston Salem, North Carolina. A wonderfully beautiful example of mid-Atlantic craftsmanship dating back to the early 1800s\'. All hand cut splint construction. Bottom a bit \"holy\" but adds to antiqueness and verification of age. We considered having it restored, but frankly, so nice we decided to leave well enough as is (part of a large basket collection of which we have only one more left after this; this was one of our favorites!) Believe to be birch wood but not totally sure.
