Antique vtg Russian imperial military cossack riding coat, “cherkeska”

Rare find from New York. Authentic Cossack riding coat from early 20th century.
During the Russian Revolution cossack troops were loyal to their oath of allegiance to the Tsar and fought in the White Army against the Bolsheviks. Survivors emigrated to Europe and USA. This cherkeska was in the the family of its original owner for generations.

Black fine dense wool, lined bodice and wide sleeve cuffs, wide sleeves at the shoulder (to allow free movement when using cold arms). Build-in bandolier (bullet holders) on the chest.
Back design:
Central skirt panel is cut in one piece with the back bodice (see photo #14).
Two retractable “horns” at the back waistline should support the belt. Could be tucked in and disappear or popped out when needed (see photos #16, #17, #18 ).
Wide skirt with side splits. Splits at the sleeves.
Inside belt.
Lined bodice.
Condition: Great. No holes, no stains, no discoloration, The wool and lining are strong. No odor (the coat was dry cleaned).
Two small repairs at the front panel (see photo #9 ). One invisible repair at the back.
Lining wear at the nape area and small disconnection at the edge (# 10).

Length - 49” (124 cm); Bodice length - 17 1/2” (44 cm)
Underarm to underarm in front - 20” (51 cm)
Waist - 30” - 32” (82cm) round
Sleeve - 28” (71 cm)

Excellent: Previously worn or used with no notable flaws
Very Good: Worn with minimal noted flaws, needs no repair, wearable
Good: Visible wear, noted minor flaws, light repair required or optional
Fair: Numerous noted flaws, needs repair, will not take repeated wear
Poor: Damaged beyond repair/wear. Study piece only.
