A beautiful specimen of two large quartz crystals with secondary crystals growing outward at the base. The crystals have been covered with a light coating of gold, which makes the crystals appear blue. This is done via an electrostatic process, whereby the crystal cluster is put into a vacuum and charged opposite the metal. Heat is applied and the gold is then put into the vacuum and it "clings" to the crystals. The crystals are then turned over and the process is repeated, so that all areas are covered. This fusion is permanent and cannot be removed. #28a

Color is aqua blue
Luster is glassy to vitreous.
Transparency: Crystals are translucent.
Crystal System is trigonal; 3 2.
Crystal Habits are hexagonal prisms terminated with a six sided pyramid. Druse forms (crystal lined rock with just the pyramids showing) are also seen.
Cleavage is very weak in three directions (rhombohedral).
Fracture is conchoidal.
Hardness is 7.
Specific Gravity is 2.65. (average)
Streak is white.
Dimensions: 1 7/8" by 1 1/8" by 13/16" (48mm x 28mm x 20mm) at widest points
