Pottery jug made at theBurslem James Macintyre & Co factory at the end of the 19th century.

The jugis transfer decorated in underglaze blue. The Art Nouveau design is reminiscent of Moorcroft florian ware. Moorcroft experts may be familiar withthe pattern and it\'s origin. The jug is 15 cm tall base diameter 8.7 cm.

The jug has several areas of damage:

1A piece next to the spout is missing a there is a small crackclose to the missing piece.

2A chip to the rim has been restored (not very well) and there is a similar poor repair on the inside of the footrim.

3 The glaze has age related crazing.

There are several marks to the base:

Macintyre printed factory mark, two design registered numbers 308931 and 314901 corresponding to 1897 and 1898.William Moorcroft was employed by Macintyre in 1897. There are also several impressed marks / cyphers to the base all very difficult to read.

Still an attractive and interesting piece despite the damage.
