An original chromolithograph after Arthur Rackham (1867-1939).
It is a portrait of The Huntress Diana, depicting her semi naked in a Grecian style robe and sandals with a bow and arrow. A leopard lies at her feet.Beyond is a Mediterranean landscape.
Signed in print lower lower left. Titled below with subtitle \'From Milton\'s Comus, by permission of the Publisher, William Heinemann\'. Rackham painted the original watercolour in 1921.
Published in The Connoisseur in the 1920s and has their logo bottom right. This is a seldom seen but highly regarded Rackham image, an original antique print not a modern reproduction.
In excellent condition clean, unfaded condition. Well presented in a buff coloured mount within a wooden frame. Both mount and frame are in very good condition.
Glazed and ready to hang.
Measures 41 x 32.5cm including the frame, the image only is 25 x 18cm.
