Herefor your consideration is an exquisite and rare, contemporary, sterling silverand gilt, limited edition goblet, stem set with five topaz cabochons, below a tapering pentagonal concertinaed body, with ribbed & rolled pentagonal fluted foot and beautiful gilt interior, complete with original presentation box and certificate.

Designed by Jocelyn Burton made by Hector Miller and marketed by Aurum to raise funds for the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge.

This Fitzwilliam Museum Cup is fullyhallmarked on the underside of the base.A numbered limited editiongoblet 93 of 150, fully hallmarked with leopardshead for the London assay office, lion passant, gothic date letter ‘A\' for 1975 and the designers initials JB for Jocelyn Burton.

In addition there is a fifth mark struck in the workshop. This special mark consists of a shield with the arms of Richard Fitzwilliam, seventh Viscount Fitzwilliam. This cup is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed personally by the Right Honourable, the Lord Butler of Saffron Walden KG,PC,CH, the Master of Trinity College, Cambridge and Chairman of the Fitzwilliam Museum Syndicate.

Condition: An exquisite goblet that’s in exceptionally goodcondition withno damage, repairs, dents or splits. Thecream display box has got some internal velvet wear & tear, but nothing unusual. Jocelyn Burton ...

Jocelyn Burton was born in Walesin 1946. She trained as asilversmithatSir John CassCollege inLondonwhere she studied under Jack Stapley. In 1967 she won theDe BeersInternational Award for the design of diamond jewellery. Three years later she set up her own studio and workshop in London. In 2003, she received theCity and Guilds of London InstituteGold Medal - Prince Philip Medal.

Jocelyn Burton\'s commissions to name but a few include an offertory salver forLichfield Cathedraland a centerpiece commissioned bySir Roy Strongto launch the Modern Plate collection of theVictoria and Albert Museum (where it\'s on permanent exhibition). Recently she has completed a set of magnificent silver wall sconces for a City financial institution and thePataudi Trophy, a prize commissioned by theMCCto commemorate the 75th anniversary of India\'s Test debut, presented when Indiatoured the UK in 2007. TheMCCloaned the trophy to be exhibited in November and December 2012 at Jocelyn Burton’sBentley & SkinnerExhibition.

Her work features in private and public collections including,10 Downing Street, York Minster,Longleat, St Paul’s Cathedraland theFitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge.

Apart from major commissions Jocelyn Burtonhas created a range of domestic silver as well as jewellery using gold, silver, precious and semi-precious stones. All this work is based on her own designs – from preliminary sketches to finished colour drawings.

In 1995 Jocelyn Burton won the United Kingdom Jeweller Award for best design in silver. Jocelyn Burton alsohad the first piece of platinum hallmarked at the LondonAssay Officein 1973 when hallmarking for platinum was introduced under theHallmarking Act of 1973.This piece is atGoldsmith’s Hall. She became a freeman of theWorshipful Company of Goldsmithsin 1974.
