This is a lovely Australian sweetheart badge brooch that appears to be a gift from two serving sons to their mum during the Great War. The brooch is marked 9ct gold and maker’s name, C. Turner. It comprises a triangle which probably represents their unit’s colour patch. Within the triangle there are three hands joined; presumably the two brothers and mum. Flanking the triangle there are two Flags with no definition other than deliberate jewellers shading lines. At the top, between the Flags and inside the triangle’s apex, there are the initials “AIF”. Beneath all this there is a banner that is inscribed “From S & L to Mum” A lovely piece with and undoubted history and sentiment. The badge brooch is in excellent condition with no faults or damage found. Measures:4cm x 3cm Weight: 4gm We have listed a few militaria and medal items this week.
