The document is dated January 17, 1898 and is for the Appointment of Samuel M. Lemon as the Collector of Internal Revenue for the Fourth District of Michigan. It is signed by President McKinley in the bottom right corner and Secretary of the Treasury Lyman Gage in the bottom left corner. Both signatures are in brown period ink.William McKinley (January 29, 1843 – September 14, 1901) was an American politician and lawyer who served as the 25th President of the United States from March 4, 1897 until his assassination in September 1901, six months into his second term. McKinley led the nation to victory in the Spanish–American War, raised protective tariffs to promote American industry, and maintained the nation on the gold standard in a rejection of inflationary proposals.

Lyman Judson Gage (June 28, 1836 – January 26, 1927) was an American financier and Presidential Cabinet officer.The document measures 15\" x 19\". 100% original and authentic!This item comes from a smoke-free home.
