Offered isan authentic 16/17th century Flemish painting on wood and mounted in a frame.The painting measures 16.5 x 19.5 inches and offers a good deal of detail.This painting is from the Golden Age of Flemish painting and examples of thisquality are becoming more difficult to find.Originally purchased this from a private collector in 1968 from Germany.The scene is a common topic ofthe period; most likely depicting an apothecary/doctor who is looking at aglass of urine in order to ascertain what ailment a patient is suffering from.This was an old method known as uroscopy. Looking at the doctor is a child andolder women. In the background you can see someone looking in the door out ofcuriosity. On the wall in thebackground is what looks to be a fish mounted on the wall.
