Gurkha Havildar Khukuri (Kukri)
Sergeant Khukuri, as used during WW2 and Falklands
Made in Nepal
ThisHavildar (Sergent) khukuri is a replica of the khukuri used during World War II in Burma and Malaya, originally designed after a khukuri carried by a Ghurkha sergeant participating in the Burma Campaign. It appears that the first one was made by the regimental armorer according to the sergeant\' and to the official carry requirements. The same type of khukuri was also issued to the British Task Force during the Falklands\' War. It includes a military grade scabbard, and as all khukuris it has two pockets on the back of the scabbard which hold a blunt piece of steel, called \"chakmak\", used for sharpening the blade or for starting fire from a piece of flint, and a very small blade known as \"karda\", used for skinning. The notch (kaura or kaudi) in the blade near the hilt of most khukuris serves as conduit for the blood on the blade to drip out, thus preventing it from soiling the hilt, as well as a device for blocking enemy weapons. Please use the shipping rates listed.Blade Size : 13.5 inch (33.75cm)
