Excellent craftsmanship really deep cuts - beautiful balance and expression. Alfred spent 3 days just on the sanding of this alone - It\'s incredibly detailed - the bear is \"carrying\" a panel which represents a copper panel - it shows the eagle in the front. Alfred stained and polished this piece to accentuate the natural grain of the wood. It\'s signed at the bottom of the base.

Measurements: 11.75\" tall incl. Base, The bear itself is 4\" deep, 3\" wide, the base is 7\" x 5\" x 1.75\"

Condition: fabulous!!

Alfred Robertson, Kwakwaka’wakw First Nations, was born 1950 in Kingcome Inlet, British Columbia, Canada. Alfred learned to carve from his father, William Robertson, and has carved with his brother, Sampson Robertson. Alfred carves in yellow and red cedar wood. He lives now in Nanaimo and teaches basic carving skills to elementary school children. Alfred is a very well known and very well liked Northwest Coast Native artists who is preserving the carving traditions of his people. His pieces are found in the finest Galleries on the west coast as well as private collections world wide.
