The Avanti II is instantly chamming. This was arguably Raymond Loewy\'s most ambitious design. While other automakers focused on being as large and heavy as possible, this svelte fiberglass creation went for the long hood and short rear that made European sports cars the envy of designers. And with terrific details like the flat front end, sporty fender lines, and curvaceous rear glass, this unique machine would always be in style. That\'s probably why the Avanti outlived Studebaker. So an Avanti II like this is a great car to own. It was handcrafted in the era when the owners of the company were the ones who directly saved it from the Studebaker downfall. They took pride in their work, and so while this is a highly original example, the body panels, chrome bumpers, badging, and all the details are correctly in place. Even the classic Mag-style wheels have the proper Avanti center cap. This total package gives you the opportunity to have an affordable survivor to show off or a solid foundation to begin a restoration.

While this car was built in South Bend – just like the best Studebakers – the Avinti II motor is a Chevy 350 cubic-inch V8. So while you\'ll always have a connection to the iconic styling, the mechanical side of this classic is robust and easy to maintain. Topped with a Rochester four-barrel carburetor, it makes the kind of good power and great torque you want in a cruiser like this. In fact, with power steering, front disc brakes, a three-speed automatic transmission, sway bars front & rear, and modern Goodyear tires, this one really does have all the right ingredients to be a great anytime driver.
