BARONIAL ENORMOUS ANTIQUE FRENCH HUNTING DOGS WILD BOAR TAPESTRY 19th of the largest tapestries I have found in a long time - 52\" 4ft 4\" wide x 80\" (6ft 8\") length. A typical French hunting scene of 3 beagle type dogs or spaniels with a wild boar hiding in bushes. In excellent antique condition French c1880, no holes or marks although a little dusty from storage. Gently faded over the passage of time in colours of ochre, russets and browns. Fringing to the outside edges where it was once tacked to a frame. Beautifully woven with raised areas giving the whole tapestry depth. Found at a recent brocante in the SW region of France from a large bourgeois house in Limoges, alongside the other tapestry I also have up for sale - please see my other listing. Most probably made at Aubusson as only about an hour away from Limoges. A true French statement piece for any room! 2 kilos without packing - this is heavy!
