FINEANTIQUE SHAHSAVAN TRIBAL \"JIJIM\" or \"JAJIM\" FLAT-WEAVE COVER or BLANKET,Mianeh-Bijar area, south of the Caucasus Mountainsinthe province of Azerbaijan, late 19th century, and coming in pristine originalcondition for the collector.The exact size:6\'-1\" x 6\'-8\" (185 x 203cm). A stunning specimen of its type with fine wool quality and rich natural dyes derived from organic plant sources.A lovely tent cover, or blanket, consisting ofeight narrowjajim strips,8\" (20cm) wide, sewn together. Structurally, each jijim strip was woven on a small, narrow loomin a warp-faced plain weave technique then butt-seamed together to create a decorative and functional cover for personal use. This antique weaving has survived in a near-perfect state of preservation and seems to have been lovinglytaken care ofby previous owners for over a long period of time. This tribal folk art textile relic is clean and collection ready.
