Born in Seleky, Senegal, in 1953. A graduate of the National School of Fine Arts in Dakar, Louis Bassène is also a graduate of the National Conservatory of Music and Dramatic Arts. Essential character of the Senegalese culture, a plastic artist who alternates between the figurative and the abstract in his artistic journey. All of his work is intimately linked to the Diola culture and its region of origin, Casamance, the region in which Louis loves finding inspiration in the social Environment closest to him.
