New York, Alfred A. Knopf. 1966, 1st Edition. First Edition of this highly-regarded Lew Archer mystery by Ross Macdonald, considered by critics as one of the \"holy trinity of American crime writers\" with Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler.

NOT an ex-library or remaindered copy!

A VERY GOOD+ book in a VERY GOOD- dustjacket. Book appears UNREAD! 1/4 burgundy cloth spine, with gold gilt lettering over blue boards. Solid, even blue top-stain as issued by publisher. Light dusting to exterior, w/ little signs of shelf wear to board edges/tips. Nothing too glaring, just not quite crisp enough to grade higher. Book is free of writing, owner names, underling, bookplates etc... The dustjacket, glossy in a mylar sleeve, has typical wrinkle/tears to edges/folds. The original price (3.95) is intact. Overall, a decent copy of a scarce book. L.W. Currey has a copy at $450, with the next available at $900, then off into la-la land at over $2000. This copy, priced to sell!
