Gilles Robert de Vaugondy (1688–1766), also known as Le Sieur or Monsieur Robert, and his son, Didier Robert de Vaugondy (1723–1786), were famous cartographers in France during the 18th Century.
In 1757, Gilles and Didier Robert De Vaugondy published “The Atlas Universel”, one of the most important atlases of the 18th Century.
C-F Delamarche bought from Jean-Baptiste Fortin in 1786 the collection of maps of the geographer Didier Robert de Vaugondy, sold at Fortin in 1778, and corrected or redited the maps of Robert de Vaugondy.
