Beautiful HandWorked Antique Vintage French Linen Sheet Cutwork Monogram FS Generous size

This lovely largesheet has been hand worked to create a very detailed cut-work border with acut-work monogram and embroidered depicting the initials F S. For Frederick and Sarah perhaps? The lacywork on this is in excellent condition, just a couple of small broken brides(see photo) which aren’t noticeable. The cut work creates a pattern across thefull width, a lot of work and very time consuming. Sheets like this wereinitialled to make part of a ladies trousseau and the work was very oftencarried out by the betrothed young lady.I wonder how many hours were spent creating this elegant sheet. Ihaven’t seen monograms worked in this way before, so well matched to theoverall pattern.

In very goodcondition, bright, crisp and freshly laundered. The bottom hem bears a veryfaint laundry name; normal for sheets of this kind which were sent to belaundered.
