Here is a beautiful one of a kind, hand carved out of mahogany, wood crane.
Belize is a very young country, gaining it\'sindependenceon Sep 21st 1981... still a very young country. There is amazing undiscovered local talent making a number of handmade goods. Wood carvings are just one example, but not all are equal. There seems to be your average tourist type carvings, then a whole different class of work, works of art. Some finished with amazing detail, and others with a combination of detail and rustic appeal such as the piece listed here. Not only is this anelegantone of a kind piece, but one aspect I love the most, is the way the artist used the bark of the tree as the wings...very beautiful.
This piece retails for $1800 USD in Belize, however, I was able to buy direct from the artist in person, getting exceptional pricing. I then exported it to the US for resell with a few other pieces.
